A look back at BIOKET 2024
A look back at BIOKET 2024
Launched in 2018 by B4C, the BIOKET congress responds to a strong expectation on the part of stakeholders in the bioeconomy: to offer a place for exchanges on key technologies for transforming biomass into high value-added products, whether for the energy, biobased chemistry, cosmetics or food sectors… With over 550 participants, around 100 speakers and more than 1,000 BtoB meetings, the 2024 edition, held in Reims, in the Grand Est Region from March 19 to 21, marks a record edition of this key bioeconomy event.

The Grand Est Region and the Reims Urban Community: European epicenter of the Bioeconomy for the 2024 edition of BIOKET.
The Grand Est Region stands out for its attractiveness and its essential contribution to French competitiveness, particularly in the key sectors of agriculture and industry, a pillar of the bioeconomy. At the crossroads of Europe, it is the region of France the most connected to its neighbors, with 760 km of borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland. This cross-border openness was illustrated at Bioket 2024, with the presence of personalities such as Sabine Kurtz, State Secretary of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Food, Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection, Peter Wehrheim of the European Commission, and Jerry Krattiger, Managing Director of the Freiburg Development Agency, underlining the international influence of the Grand Est Region in the bioeconomy.
Thanks to its agro-industrial heritage, the Grand Est Region is one of France’s most attractive regions. The Region’s strategy is ambitious, combining economic, agricultural (with over 85% of its 57,000 km² territory covered by farming, viticulture and forestry) and ecological ambitions, placing the bioeconomy at the heart of its development in order to make the most of its many assets. This Region also boasts a rich ecosystem of startup incubators serving innovative companies.
Of the five French flagships, thanks to the support of Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), two are located in the Grand-Est Region (ReSolute and AFTER-BIOCHEM). With the support of Bioeconomy For Change, these projects embody the success stories of the bioeconomy in the Grand Est Region, making it a prime location for innovation and ecological commitment at the crossroads of Europe.
Thanks to its strong academic culture, the Grand Est Region is one of the leading regions in the bioeconomy: the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, the University of Strasbourg and the University of Lorraine are helping to strengthen the region’s position in this sector.
