RITTMO CELEBRATES ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY!
Founded by Laure Metzger-Thévenin and Corinne Bitaud, RITTMO stands for Research Innovation Technology Transfer for fertilizing Organic Materials. This research center is an expert in the treatment and valorization of organic waste and studies the impact of agricultural practices on the environment. In honor of its 20th anniversary, RITTMO inaugurates a new plantation.
The association was created in October 2001 and the research work started in February 2002 with the help of funding from Potasses d’Alsace. The two founders were initially housed in Aspach-le-Bas. A year later, they moved to the Du Pont de Nemours site in Nambsheim and then to the current center, in the Biopôle, in 2009. The Alsace Region, the Haut-Rhin Department and the City of Colmar financed the construction of the building. The Ministry of Agriculture, the Management for Research and Innovation and the Region provided financial support for the missions.
20 SYMBOLIC FRUIT TREES
On Thursday, May 18, 2022, RITTMO invited elected officials, including the President of the Alsace Region, Jean Rottner, the Member of Parliament Jacques Cattin, and the Mayor Eric Straumann, President of Colmar Agglomeration, owner of the building. They presided over the inauguration of a new plantation: 20 fruit trees that symbolize 20 years of existence in the service of sustainable agriculture. They were financed by a private individual, Jean-Pierre Petit and the UPJ, the professional union of input producers.
